Homemade Red Chile Sauce

A simple authentic New Mexico sauce.

  • 12 DRIED RED CHILE “CHILI” PODS
  • 2 CUPS WATER
  • 1 TEASPOON SALT

Wash to rinse the dried pods, remove stems and seeds. Bring chile and water to a boil then reduce heat and allow to steam 10 minutes or more. Pour this liquid into a blender and place the chile in the liquid. Strain remaining sauce through a colander or sieve to remove the any residual chile skin. Add salt to taste.
