New Mexico
Wooden Retablo is designed and handmade by our local artist,
Lynn Garlick
. New Mexico Catalog has had the honor of working with Lynn and her studio for almost 30 years now! The beautiful colors of this San Isidro Retablo, features striking hues of Santa Fe Style Blues, chile pepper Red reds, with the bright yellow sun shining down next to the neighboring rain clouds. San Ysidro as many call him, honors farmers, gardeners and ranchers as he labored all his life as a Spanish farm worker. Legend has it that one day the farm owner went to check if Isidro was working and found him praying under a tree as an angel plowed the field. And when food was scarce one winter Isidro fed some starving birds the corn he was carrying to the mill and when he reached the mill, miraculously the sack was full. He was extremely generous to those less fortunate and often had very little left for himself. This large retablo is 5 1/2″ x 13″. A wonderful addition for any Southwest or Santa Fe Style Folk Art collection.
